Parent Obligations
We encourage parents to pay tuition in advance, by the 28th of each month. Payments are considered 'late' after the 2nd of each month. Parents may choose to pay bimonthly if approved by the director. A $25 per week late fee will be assessed for any tuition received after the 2nd of the month. If tuition is five days late, the Center reserves the right to cancel the child's enrollment.
A Wake County Human Services Child Care Health Consultant, registered nurse, will consult with all parents who have children on medications for allergies or breathing problems.
It is mandatory that all parents with children on allergy or asthma medication meet with our Health Consultant twice per year to develop and update an Allergy/Asthma Plan of Action.
If your child needs Tylenol for a fever, they should not be at school.
Children should be FEVER FREE, WITHOUT TYLENOL, for 24 hours before returning to school.
DO NOT TAKE MEDICATION TO YOUR CHILD’S CLASSROOM OR LEAVE MEDICATION IN YOUR CHILD’S BOOK BAG. This includes sunscreen, lotion, chap stick, hydrocortisone, diaper cream or any other form of medication.
Please contact administration about all questions or concerns related to medication.
You will need to provide at least one change of clothes and a large towel or blanket for the child's cot. In the summer, you may also wish to provide a swim suit (and 'water shoes). The towel or blanket must be laundered at least once a week as it may become soiled during naptime. Parents usually take the child's laundry home on Fridays for laundering.
In the case of suspected child abuse, the staff will notify the N.C. Department of Social Services. State law does not require parental notification when this action is taken. A record of the case circumstances (which may include the date, nature of the referral and any results) will be kept in the child's confidential folder.
Please advise a staff member at the Center if your child has a contagious disease. The child will not be allowed to return to the center until he/she is no longer contagious. The N.C. Department of Health mandates that a child must be free of fever, vomiting and diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to the Center.
Parent Organization
A strong parent organization is essential for the success of our Center. A parent may be as active as he/she chooses to be in the organization. Parents can share resources and ideas about children through the organization. We encourage all parents to become actively involved in the development of their children.
Parents are also encouraged to volunteer time and services to the Center. Parents may consider helping during field trips, parties, story time and outdoor workdays or simply stopping by for lunch. We also encourage you to share any special things about your culture or hobbies. Please consult with your child's teacher to work out a convenient time for you to participate in the classroom.
The director can provide you with information from our staff development meetings as it may help you with your child. In addition, if you ever have information that you would like to share, please feel free to do so.
Parent organization meetings are generally scheduled twice a year if requested by parents, but ad hoc meetings may also be scheduled if there is new or important information that needs to be shared. Scheduled meetings are announced and posted at least two weeks in advance. The meetings provide time to discuss general issues, but there is not time to discuss individual children or staff members (please reserve conferences for that purpose). We encourage parents to make constructive recommendations and to notify us whenever they have concerns or praise.
